The racing fun begins at 9 am.
Our clothes are laid out, water bladders filled, various foot pains have been addressed with KT tape (cool stuff, www.kttape.com), numbers pinned and gear bags repacked twice. The second time happened after I dumped mine out looking for a favorite pair of new lavender running glasses. Turns out I put them in the bag of excess gear for John's dad to take home. I have back-ups, but they aren't lavender, or new, or the ones I planned to wear. But, if that is the only snafu of the week, I'll take it.
The pre-race meeting and dinner went well, but were punctuated by standard nervous laughter, frantic comparison of training schedules and the requisite sizing up of competition. In attempting to disassociate ourselves from the cess pool of anxiety, and not add to our own, we were the quiet camp kids watching from the edges of the hustle and bustle.
Tomorrow we all jump into the fray. Here's to a fun run and a bluebird Colorado Day. But for now, it's time for some much needed rest--like that will happen! The alarm is set for 5:30. I really don't want to count down every hour until then......
Our mantra, "Have fun, keep smiling and run our own race--remember we're on vacation!"
